MAKING FOR MINDFULNESS - Making-based religious practice

June 2022
Designing for a different purpose than an outcome, “Making for Mindfulness” aims to take a different approach to why we create things. Leaving the idea that the process of making should focus on the result, the workshop is set up in order to promote a certain mindset in the creative process.
Stemming from the idea of religious practises using different methods in order to reach a certain state of mind, methods such as prayer and meditation, “Making for Mindfulness” tries to utilise the same idea of presence and faith. But here applied to the idea of creation.
The workshop was set up to give the participants an unglazed cup each, all identical in shape in order to show the variety achievable through color, and letting them paint the cups without any premade conception of what or why. The only necessary tool is presence and faith in the process.
